This past Tuesday the Lady Pioneers volleyball team took on the West Virginia Tech Golden Bears in a 7 p.m. home match-up. The Lady Pioneers prevailed three sets to one over the visiting team in their home opener.

The first two sets saw the Lady Pioneers win in dominating fashion with scores of 25-19 and 25-18 over the Lady Golden Bears. A large crowd was on hand to watch the game and they were not disappointed. The third game however was the loan setback for the Pioneers as they fell by a score of 25-18. But even that set showed promise as the young Lady Pioneers fell behind big early and clawed their way back into it after an emphatic spike by Junior Heather Stout. It wouldn’t be enough to get the sweep but the next best thing was crushing the Golden Bears in the final set 25-15.

Dejana Ludoski led all players in kills with 15. The duo of Kaci Sullivan and Stefanie Gladders combined for 31 assists which was more than the entire Golden Bear squad had. Rachel Morris and Ella Messinger tied for the game lead in service aces with four each while Ludoski finished with three. Emily Osborne had a solid defensive performance with three blocks and five assisted blocks. Again Ludoski found herself at the top of the stat sheet with seven digs.

The next match-up for the Lady Pioneers is this Friday atWheeling Jesuit and the following Wednesday you can see the Lady Pioneers in action against Alderson Broaddus Battlers in the first home match-up with a conference foe.
