About

Maureen Kraus Gildein received a B.A. in Health/Physical Education from Glenville State University. She earned a M.Ed. from Gardner-Webb University and the University of North Carolina-Greensboro in Educational Leadership. She also earned an Ed.S from Marshall University with emphasis on instructional technology and earned an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Marshall University. Her thesis topic covered effective learning/teaching strategies for First Generation Students.

Dr. Gildein previously served as a teacher, coach, and K-12 principal in North Carolina public schools for 25 years. At Glenville State University, she teaches physical education and health education methods courses, wellness and health related courses, and education courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  She also serves as Faculty Representative to the Board of Governors, co-advisor to Fellowship of Christian Athletes, co-advisor to Chi Zeta Pi sorority, co-advisor to Pioneer Pulse, and is a member of the GSU Alumni Council, Women’s Leadership Council, and GSU Foundation Board.

Additionally, Dr. Gildein serves on the Board of Directors as Resource Development Director for SHAPEWV.  She lives in Alum Bridge, WV with her husband, Jim.  They have four children and five grandchildren.
