GLENVILLE, WV - Students who have been elected to the 2015 Glenville State College Homecoming Court have been announced.

Larisa Gordon and Quentin Murphy

QUEEN & KING

Larisa Gordon from Glenville, West Virginia is the 2015 Homecoming Queen. Larisa is a mathematics education major who plans to relocate to Pennsylvania and work in a middle or high school after graduation. She is a member of the GSC Honors Program, serves the Student Government Association as Vice President, is the treasurer of Chi Beta Phi, serves as historian for Pioneers for a Cause, and is a member of Kappa Delta Pi. Larisa studied abroad this summer in England and she hopes to continue traveling in the future. She is the daughter of Daniel and Vicki Gordon. Her nomination was sponsored by Pioneers for a Cause.

Quentin Murphy from Grantsville, West Virginia in Calhoun County is the 2015 Homecoming King. Quentin is a studio art major who, during his time at GSC, has been involved in Pioneers for a Cause, worked as a Resident Assistant, and is currently the Public Relations Executive for GSC’s Student Government Association and the West Virginia Association of Student Governments. After graduation he plans on obtaining a master’s in advertising and communications and working in higher education for a few years before applying for a Director of Art position with Nike. Quentin is the son of Debbie and Jim Murphy. His nomination was sponsored by Pioneers for a Cause.

SENIOR PRINCESSES & PRINCES

Rachel Morris

Rachel Morris from Gallipolis, Ohio is one of this year’s senior princesses. Rachel is an early and elementary education major who aims to pursue a Master’s Degree and obtain a teaching job in West Virginia after graduation. During her time at GSC she has been a member of the Pioneer Volleyball Team, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Student Athletic Advisory Committee, and the Early Education Student Group. Rachel is the daughter of Bill and Kendi Morris. Her nomination was sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Ezekiel Bonnett from Cox’s Mills, West Virginia is one of this year’s senior princes. Ezekiel is majoring in studio art and digital media and plans to work on a Master’s Degree in art after graduation. Through the GSC Art Club he assisted with the Glenville bench repainting project a few years ago. He would also like to visit Finland. Ezekiel is the son of Heather and Danny Bonnett. His nomination was sponsored by the GSC Art Club, Alpha Rho Tau.

Jonna Strickland

Jonna Strickland of Cairo, West Virginia in Ritchie County is one of this year’s senior princesses. Jonna is a criminal justice major who plans to obtain a Master’s Degree while pursuing a career in private investigating after graduation. She has been actively involved in the Sigma Pi Xi criminal justice organization, Pioneers for a Cause, and Relay for Life during her time at GSC. When she was 17, Jonna started a cake baking business; she now has hundreds of customers and has greatly enjoyed the experience. She is the daughter of Johnnie and Lynn Strickland. Her nomination was sponsored by Sigma Pi Xi.

Derrick Woods

Derrick Woods of Elkins, West Virginia in Randolph County is one of this year’s senior princes. Derrick is a criminal justice major who aims to get a job as a police officer back in his hometown after graduation. He is also getting married in July. During his time at GSC, Derrick has been a member of the Alpha Xi Omega fraternity. He is the son of Arthur and Leah Woods. He was an independent homecoming court nominee.

Kennedy Cochran and Brod Boswell

JUNIOR ROYALTY

Kennedy Cochran, who hails from Clifftop, West Virginia in Fayette County, is an elementary and special education major at GSC. After graduation she plans to get a Master’s Degree from WVU in gifted education and return to her home county to teach. Kennedy is involved in the Chi Zeta Pi sorority, Kappa Delta Pi honor society, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Baptist Campus Ministry. She also tutors other students in math and is a student worker in the Fine Arts Department. Kennedy is the daughter of Clinton and Lisa Cochran. Her nomination was sponsored by Chi Zeta Pi.

Brod Boswell is from Birmingham, Alabama. Brod is a behavioral science major who plans to work with deaf children and become a sign language interpreter after graduation. He says Glenville State has friendly professors and staff and cites it as being the place where he met his fiancée. Brod is the son of Deangela Boswell. His nomination was sponsored by GSC Activities.

Raven Fatool and Travis Hammack

SOPHOMORE ROYALTY

Raven Fatool is from Sunbury, Pennsylvania. Raven is an accounting major who aims to obtain CPA certification and work for an accounting firm after graduation. Raven earned an All-Mountain East Conference Honorable Mention in 2014-15 for being an outstanding golfer. She also participates in the Student Athletic Advisory Committee and Phi Beta Lambda. Additionally, Raven has a black belt in ti jitsu. She is the daughter of Gary and Joan Fatool. Her nomination was sponsored by Chi Zeta Pi.

Travis Hammack is from Spencer, West Virginia in Roane County. Travis is an English education major who plans to teach English and coach wrestling after graduation. He is a member of the GSC Honors Program, participates in theater, and is an ROTC cadet. Travis also serves as alumni coordinator for the Sigma Omega Beta fraternity and will be the editor for the Spring 2016 issue of GSC’s literary magazine the Trillium. He is the son of Fred and Mary Hammack. His nomination was sponsored by Sigma Omega Beta.

Kaylee Howard and Toby Crawford

FRESHMAN ROYALTY

Kaylee Howard is from Hartford, West Virginia in Mason County. Kaylee is a criminal justice major and she hopes to attend the criminal justice study abroad trip to London this coming summer. Kaylee currently serves as the secretary of Delta Xi Rho and works part time in the Robert F. Kidd Library. Her sorority recently completed community service projects with the local nursing home and at the Glenville Presbyterian Church Band Bash. She is the daughter of Tracy and James Howard. Her nomination was sponsored by Delta Xi Rho.

Toby Crawford is from Augusta, West Virginia in Hampshire County. Toby is a biology major who plans to become a pediatrician. He is involved in the Pioneer Shooting Club and the Fishing Club on campus. Toby notes that Glenville feels like his hometown, partly because of the similar rural setting. He is the son of Mary and Randy Crawford. His nomination was sponsored by the Pioneer Shooting Club.

Grace Adams, Jobe Carter, Ava Lamb, and JP Barr

COURT ATTENDANTS

Grace Adams is the eight-year-old daughter of Matthew and Rachel Adams of Glenville. Grace is a third grader who is active in the Cedarville Centurions 4-H Club. She also participates in acrobatics and tumbling classes that are offered through the GSC Acrobatics and Tumbling Team. Grace is learning how to play the guitar and looks forward to becoming a teacher or doctor when she grows up. Grace's mother is a GSC graduate and works in the Registrar's Office. Her grandfather Tim Marks also works at GSC as the Physical Plant Manager.

JP Barr is the five-year-old son of Jason and Kelly Barr of Glenville. He enjoys playing flag football for the Little Pioneers, watching Star Wars and cartoons, and playing baseball. JP attends kindergarten at Glenville Elementary. His father teaches in the Fine Arts Department at GSC and his grandfather, Dr. Peter Barr, serves as president of the institution.

Jobe Carter is the four-year-old son of Jeremy and Brittney Carter of Glenville. He enjoys collecting superheroes, learning new dance moves, and honing his near-perfect ninja fighting skills. He has also drawn numerous pictures for his father's office on campus. Though he was born in South Carolina, he is a West Virginia native at heart; his mother is from Mason County and his father is from Mercer County. Jobe's father is a Hidden Promise Scholar Coordinator at GSC.

Ava Lamb is the three-year-old daughter of Matthew and Amanda Lamb of Glenville. Ava loves attending GSC football and basketball games so she can dance with the band and cheer on the Pioneers. She enjoys singing, dancing, swimming, and playing with her two puppies. Ava attends Watch Me Grow Daycare and is part of the youth group at Rock Grove Baptist Church. Ava's parents are both GSC grads and her mother works in the Robert F. Kidd Library.
