2023 Glenville State University Homecoming Royalty Announced

GLENVILLE, WV - In accordance with tradition, members of the 2023 Glenville State University Homecoming Court were announced at the annual Coronation Ceremony on Monday, October 9. 

The Homecoming Royalty included: 

Homecoming Royalty Samantha Dawson is from Sissonville, West Virginia and is a Wildlife Management major. At Glenville State, she is a member of the Women’s Cross Country and Cheerleading team. She says her favorite thing about GSU is how friendly and welcoming everyone on campus and in the community is. After graduation, Samantha plans to work for the WVDNR and obtain her master’s degree in wildlife biology. She is the daughter of Boone and Helen Dawson. Her nomination was sponsored by the Women’s Cross Country Team.  

 
Homecoming Royalty Haley Lough is from Upperglade, West Virginia and is a Psychology major. At Glenville State, she is the Cheerleading Team Co-Captain, student worker in the Financial Aid office, Hidden Promise Scholar, Honors Program member, and member of Chi Zeta Pi, Demos, and Psychology Club. She says her favorite thing about GSU is the personable atmosphere. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school to student counseling and clinical psychology. She is the daughter of R.T. and Valisha Lough. Her nomination was sponsored by the Cheerleading Team.   

 
Freshmen Representatives  

Taryn Kohlphenson is from Greensboro, North Carolina and is a Criminal Justice major with a minor in Psychology. She enjoys playing volleyball, basketball, softball, volunteering, and giving swim lessons. Taylin says her favorite things about Glenville State are the mountain sky view, and after graduation she hopes to become a detective for the FBI. She is the daughter of Krista and Tina Kohlphenson. Her nomination was sponsored by Chi Zeta Pi. 

Beth Nichols is from Roane County, West Virginia and is an Elementary Education major. At Glenville State, she is a member of the Debate Team, and says her favorite thing about campus is the small environment that makes GSU feel like home. After graduation, Beth plans to teach at Geary Elementary School and coach track there. She is the daughter of David Nichols and Roberta Smith. She was an independent homecoming court nominee. 

Sophomore Representatives  

Graylin Floyd is from Belington, West Virginia and is a Psychology major. At Glenville State, she is a member of the Soccer and Cross Country Teams, member of the Psychology Club, works in the Writing Center, and is a tutor in the Academic Success Center. After graduation, Graylin plans to earn her doctorate degree and become a psychologist. She is the daughter of Greg and Nikki Floyd. Her nomination was sponsored by the Psychology Club and the Women’s Soccer Team. 

Abby Hudson is from Tioga, West Virginia and is an English major. At Glenville State, she is a Hidden Promise Scholar and a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success. She says her favorite thing about GSU is how homey the campus is. After graduation, Abby plans to becoming an editor and working in for a writing company. She is the daughter of Natalie Sparks and Shannon Hudson. Her nomination was sponsored by Student Support Services. 

Junior Representatives  

Katie Cooper is from Ashford, West Virginia and is and Early and Elementary Education major. At Glenville State, she is a Resident Assistant, member of the Pioneer Shooting Club, National Society of Leadership and Success, and several other student organizations. After graduation, Katie plans to find a teaching position hopefully in Pre-K or Kindergarten. Her favorite thing about GSU is the small campus and how it feels like a family. She is the daughter of Jeff and Sheila Cooper. Her nomination was sponsored by the Pioneer Shooting Club. 

Emily Rosales is from Greensburg, Indiana and is an Art major. At Glenville State, she is a member of the Women’s Soccer team. After graduation, Emily plans to work as a graphic designer in the sports industry. She says her favorite thing about GSU is the people that she’s met. She is the daughter of Jose Rosales and Olga Roblero. Her nomination was sponsored by the Women’s Soccer Team and Student Support Services. 

Senior Representatives  

Adam Davis is from Pennsboro, West Virginia and is a Math Education (5-Adult) major. At Glenville State, he is a member of the Men’s Cross Country and Track Teams. He says his favorite thing about GSU are the friends that he has made. After graduation, Adam plans to be teaching and coaching in West Virginia. He is the son of Alan and Melanie Davis. His nomination was sponsored by the Men’s Cross Country team. 
 
Saeed Galloway is from Carson, California and is a Management major. At Glenville State, he is a member of the Football team, Student Support Services, and works in Residence Life. He says his favorite thing about GSU is all of the nature around campus that he doesn’t have at home. After graduation, Saeed plans to work for a major corporation like Toyota. He is the son of Saeed Galloway and Kimberly Blanks. His nomination was sponsored by Student Support Services. 
 
Court Attendants 

Brent Harrison is from Camden, West Virginia and is the son of Logan and Lindsey Harrison. Brent is two and a half years old and likes playing in the garden with his MiMi, working in the yard with his Pappy, and dancing in the kitchen with his mom and dad. When he grows up, he wants to be Spiderman. 

Fionna McEntire is from Glenville, West Virginia and is the daughter of Dave and Tegan McEntire. Fionna is six-years-old and likes winning wrestling trophies, cheerleading, and spending time with her family. When she grows up, she wants to be a professional cheerleader and a veterinarian. 

 

Homecoming week festivities at Glenville State University continue through Saturday, October 14.
