On November 13th, GSU Lecturer of Accounting, MacKenzie Petry and her accounting students attended the WVSCPA Student and Member Night hosted by the Parkersburg Chapter.

The event was held at the Parkersburg Country Club and brought together firms from the Parkersburg, Marietta, and Ohio Valley areas. Students had the chance to talk with CPAs, partners, and recruiters about internships, career paths, and what it looks like to work in the profession. 

The statewide WVSCPA President, Mendy Aluise, also spoke about her own path to becoming a CPA and her experience serving as the Society’s chair. It was a great message for students who are thinking about next steps after graduation. 

"Opportunities like this really show what students gain from the Accounting program at GSU," Petry said. “Our students represented GSU very well and made some strong connections, she added.”
