Annual Career Fair Coming to GSC
Wed Feb 4, 2009

Many potential employers will be visiting the Glenville State College campus for the annual GSC Career Fair. This year’s event will take place on Tuesday, February 17th from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom.

Over sixty prospective employers representing businesses, education, teaching, social sciences, nursing, natural resources, land resources, law enforcement, and many more will be on hand to meet with GSC students, alumni, and the public. Several companies who were not at the last couple of career fairs will be represented this year including; West Virginia American Water Company, Aramark Dining Services, the U.S. Census Bureau, Eight Brothers Family Services, and the Bureau of Public Debt. “A few companies said that they would be unable to attend the GSC Career Fair because of budget restraints or simply because they were not hiring due to the economy. However, in spite of the tough economy facing the nation, there are a lot of companies that are searching for qualified employees,” said Amy Fiddler, Director of the GSC Academic Support Center and Coordinator of the Career Fair.

All GSC seniors who will be graduating in May, as well as recent graduates, are urged to attend. It is also a good opportunity for underclassmen to start networking with possible employers and obtain information on summer employment and internships that are available. “It is probably more important than ever, for students to attend the Career Fair and make contact with as many potential employers as possible. This is a wonderful chance to learn what types of career opportunities are out there, and what types of qualification these employers are looking for,” said Fiddler.
