The legacy of Glenville State University graduate and West Virginia Division of Forestry employee Cody Mullens continues through a memorial scholarship established in his honor. Friends, family, coworkers, and supporters are encouraging contributions to the Cody Mullens Memorial Scholarship, which will help provide future Glenville State students with an opportunity to pursue their passion for forestry.
Mullens, a 2019 Glenville State graduate, earned his degree in Forest Technology and went on to serve as a Forester with the West Virginia Division of Forestry. In April 2023, he was tragically killed in the line of duty while fighting a forest fire in Fayette County.
The Cody Mullens Memorial Scholarship is intended to carry forward the qualities that defined Mullens throughout his life and career, including his love of the outdoors, commitment to helping others, and passion for West Virginia’s forests. The scholarship supports a West Virginia resident entering Glenville State as a freshman in the Forest Technology concentration of the Natural Resource Management program. The award will help a future forestry student pursue an education and career dedicated to protecting and managing West Virginia’s forests and natural resources.
Supporters will have a special opportunity to contribute to the scholarship fund during the Cody Mullens Memorial Scholarship Golf Outing on Sunday, September 3rd. Proceeds from the event will benefit the memorial scholarship and help provide financial support to a future Glenville State forestry student.
The golf outing is one of several ways friends, family, forestry professionals, Glenville State alumni, and community members can help ensure Mullens’s passion for forestry continues to make a difference for generations to come.
