GLENVILLE, WV—Create West Virginia officials say their annual event is coming to Glenville and Glenville State College. Create West Virginia’s next annual conference is scheduled from October 25th through October 28th.

Create West Virginia Co-Founder Jeff James stated, “We are very excited about being welcomed to Glenville and know that our conference here in late October will be an amazing success with the support of GSC President Dr. Peter Barr, the Gilmer County Commission, Glenville Mayor Dennis Fitzpatrick, various economic development and cultural entities, the local school system, and the community at large. This will be the first time that the conference will be held in affiliation with a higher education institution, and we are especially honored to be the inaugural conference of the stunning new 27-million dollar Waco Center.”

“I know I speak for the entire community when I say that we believe Glenville is one of the most positively changed small towns in West Virginia, and we intend to collectively make this the best Create West Virginia conference ever,” said GSC President Barr.

“Glenville was chosen as the host of the 7th Annual Create West Virginia conference due to the cooperative, innovative partnership between Glenville State College and the Glenville and Gilmer County communities, the efforts to improve downtown Glenville, the entrepreneurial activities of local students, and the vast cultural and intellectual resources of Glenville State College,” James added.

GSC President Peter Barr receives plaque from Jeff James

Following the announcement at the GSC Board of Governors meeting held on February 12th, James presented Barr with a plaque. “In recognition of his leadership and passion for Glenville State College, Glenville, Gilmer County, the entire central West Virginia region, and Create West Virginia, we are pleased to present this memento of our appreciation,” James stated.

Of the presentation, Dr. Barr said, “I’m truly surprised and touched that Create West Virginia graciously presented me with this thoughtful present which I will truly treasure. It was an honor to speak at last year’s highly successful conference in Richwood, West Virginia.”

The plaque itself is a clear acrylic rendering of an expansive feature article chronicling Dr. Barr’s life. It was written by Sandy Wells and published in the Charleston Gazette on January 5, 2014. The headline of the article, which included many pictures, was: ‘Visionary Leader Energizes Glenville State.’ The link to the article can be found by clicking here.
