Collecting Unused Cell Phones

Glenville, WV—A Glenville State College sorority is doing its part for domestic violence victims. Members of Delta Xi Rho are collecting unused cell phones that will be donated to battered women. Even if a cell phone does not currently have service, it can still be used to dial 911. The donated phones will be given to battered women so they can use them in an emergency.

“Every fifteen seconds, someone in America is abused. Domestic abuse has increased by four percent over the last two years.” said Delta Xi Rho President, Kharity Harper. This is the second time the sorority has sponsored a drive for unused phones. All phones collected will be donated to local organizations aiding battered women.

Collection boxes have been placed next to the Presidents Auditorium in the GSC Heflin Administration Building, the post office in the Mollohan Campus Community Center, Pickens Hall, the Robert F. Kidd Library, and at several business locations in Glenville. Simply drop off any unused cell phone that you have in any of the collection boxes. Delta Xi Rho will be collecting phones through March 14th.
