Glenville, WV – Glenville State College was established on February 19, 1872. This year, on the 147th anniversary of GSC’s establishment by the state legislature, the College will be hosting a Founders Day of Giving crowd funding campaign. The campaign comprises 30 individual projects. Donors can then choose which special projects or funds they would like to support.

The projects include: the GSC Annual Fund Challenge, the Student Hardship Fund, a pitching machine for Softball, printing cost for GSC’s literary arts journal Trillium, five sets of safety gear for GSC Boxing, general funds for Men’s and Women’s Basketball, an automated ball machine for Women’s Volleyball, equipment and clothing for Men’s Golf, general fundraising for Women’s Soccer, new equipment for Track and Field and Cross Country, the development of an ongoing campus literary series, support for touring theater performances, supplies, research, costs and travel expenses for the Department of Science and Mathematics, the purchase of two chainsaws for the Department of Land Resources, assistance for teacher education students with the cost of Praxis exams, travel funds for the Acrobatics and Tumbling team, recovery devices for all GSC athletes, a new PA system for use by the GSC Jazz Band, new marching band uniforms, a golf cart to be used by GSC Bluegrass, costs for passports and suitcases for education abroad students, funding overnight trips for GSC Football, equipment for the Department of Criminal Justice, general fundraising for Baseball, a slide for the GSC Pool, funding a trip to see the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra at the Clay Center for English honor society students, and interactive pen displays for art and graphic design students.

“We are really looking forward to this year’s Founders Day of Giving. Our campus has identified a diverse set of needs through the individual projects and we have set them up to making giving easy. Each project has a dedicated fundraising page so donations can be made online,” said Ashley Knight, GSC’s Director of Fundraising.

Additionally, students, faculty, staff, and alumni are invited to participate in the five-day photo challenge. Visit GSC's Day of Giving webpage to learn more about the photo challenge.
