GLENVILLE, WV – The Glenville State College Department of Fine Arts will be operating the TNT® Fireworks stand at Foodland Plaza in Glenville this year as a fundraiser.

The stand is scheduled to open Thursday, June 24 and will operate through Monday, July 5. Faculty and students from the department will staff the stand, and money from sales will go toward Fine Arts student scholarships.

During selling seasons, TNT Fireworks offers the use of their stands or tents for fundraising purposes. The group that previously operated the stand in Glenville opted not to use it this year, so the opportunity presented itself for the Department of Fine Arts to step in.

“I had asked the previous operator to please keep me in mind if they ever decided to give up their Glenville location as this would be a great way to bring in some scholarship money for the department,” said Chair of the Department of Fine Arts, Dr. Jason Barr. “Luckily, they remembered and contacted me when they decided not to renew.”

The TNT Fireworks stand will be open daily from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m.

“We encourage everyone to stop by and see us, buy some fireworks to celebrate the holiday, and support our awesome, talented students in the process,” Barr added.

When celebrating with fireworks, remember to read all warning labels and follow directions on each device. Children should not handle, play with, or light fireworks. Adults should handle and light all fireworks to ensure their proper use. Additionally, please obey local and state laws regarding the sale and use of state-approved fireworks. Contact local fire and police officials regarding ordinances pertaining to the purchase and use of fireworks in your area.
