GLENVILLE, WV - In accordance with tradition, members of the 2021 Glenville State College (GSC) Homecoming Court were announced at the annual Coronation Ceremony on Monday, October 18.

The Homecoming royalty included:

Homecoming Queen Jahnvi Duncan, who is from New Martinsville, West Virginia and is a criminal justice major, plans on pursuing a master’s degree and applying for employment with the FBI after graduation. She is a member of the GSC Track and Cross Country Teams. Duncan counts her teammates, coaches, and those who have supported her throughout her four years on campus as her favorite things about GSC. She is the daughter of Linda Duncan. 

Homecoming King Austin Cochran is from Ripley, West Virginia and is a natural resource management student majoring in environmental science. At GSC he is a Resident Assistant in Goodwin Hall and a member of the Alpha Xi Omega fraternity, Student Government Association, Pioneer Shooting Club, the Environmental Science Club, and is a captain on the eSports team. He is the son of Brian and Crystal Cochran.

Senior Princess Andrea Vidal is from Sutton, West Virginia. She is a behavioral science major and is minoring in behavioral disorders. Her future goal is to work with Child Protective Services. Vidal is a member of the Alpha Theta Xi sorority, is a lifeguard at the GSC Pool, and has been a member of a professional swim team for eleven years. She is the daughter of Les and Terri Vidal.

Senior Princess Keelin Howes, who is from Buckhannon, West Virginia and is a social studies education major, plans on earning a Ph.D. in history to teach at the college/university level after graduating from GSC. She is a sister of the Chi Zeta Pi sorority, has been a member of the Pioneer Marching Band, and works in the Robert F. Kidd Library. Howes loves to paint, draw, and embroider and says her favorite thing about GSC is the small-town environment and how she can feel close to others. She is the daughter of Jessica and James Lynch and Jason Howes.

Senior Prince Alex Pondexter is from Oak Hill, West Virginia and is majoring in criminal justice. Following graduation, he hopes to become a homicide detective. At GSC he is the vice president of the Sigma Omega Beta fraternity and a member of the GSC Boxing Team. He is the son of Michele Toney.

Junior Princess Cassie Hyre is from Gassaway, West Virginia and is a music education major. After graduation, she plans to teach music at the middle school level. Hyre is a member of the Delta Xi Rho sorority and the Pioneer Marching Band. She is the daughter of Mark and Amber Hyre.

Sophomore Princess Emily Lewis, who is from Fayetteville, West Virginia and is an elementary and multi-categorical special education major, plans to begin her teaching career and receive additional specialized training to work with students with autism after graduation. She is a GSC Home Grown Scholar, captain of the Cheerleading Team, and a member of the Early Education Student Group. She is the daughter of Rick and Susan Lewis. 

Freshman Princess Courtney Goad is from Sutton, West Virginia and is a music major with plans of also pursuing a degree in criminal justice to work in forensics or as a paralegal. She is a member of GSC’s chapter of the National Association for Music Education, Marching Band, and the Chi Zeta Pi sorority. Goad says she also enjoys singing, helping others, and writing poetry and short stories. She is the daughter of LaVaughna and Donnie Goad.

Freshman Prince Spencer Waggoner is from Palestine, West Virginia and is an integrated marketing major. He is involved with the Student Government Association and the Pioneer Marching Band. Waggoner has also been playing drums for ten years. He is the son of Minnie and Ernie Waggoner.

The court was joined by two attendants, Kendall Duelley and Lucas Butcher. Duelley is the daughter of Adrian and Brittany Duelley of Glenville, West Virginia. She likes reading, singing, drawing with chalk, swimming, and playing with her dog, Jax. Kendall wants to be a princess, a flower girl, and a big sister when she grows up. Her father is the Director of Student Activities at GSC. Butcher is the son of Matthew Butcher and Chelsea Stickelman of Glenville, West Virginia. He likes football, baseball, the Avengers, Jurassic Park, and Paw Patrol. Lucas wants to be a football player when he grows up. His mother serves as GSC’s Director of Admissions.

Homecoming week festivities at Glenville State College continue through Saturday, October 23.
