GLENVILLE, WV – Senior Glenville State College education major Keelin Howes has won a college scholarship as part of the “Do it for Babydog: Save a life, Change your life” Vaccination Sweepstakes.

The Buckhannon, West Virginia native said that she was in disbelief when she learned the news.

“When I heard that I had won, I thought maybe someone else had my name,” Howes said. “I never win things like this so I felt like there was no way it was real. It has taken me a while to comprehend how big this is for my future and I’m just so excited that I don’t have to worry about how I’m going to keep going to school.”

Howes explained that she has made adjustments to ensure that her degree is as affordable as possible, but still underscored the impact of the scholarship. “Receiving this scholarship has made my future more possible and I am so grateful that this opportunity has been given to me,” she added.

At Glenville State, Howes has been a member of the marching band, pep band, and is a student assistant in the College’s Robert F. Kidd Library.

After graduating, she plans to teach social studies at the secondary education level and proceed to graduate school to study history and world religion with intentions of working as a professor for a college or university.

Howes was among the other week six vaccination sweepstakes winners.
