GLENVILLE, WV - On Thursday, April 19 Glenville State College and Pierpont Community and Technical College announced that they are teaming to make it easier for students to move seamlessly from the completion of a two-year program to earning a bachelor's degree.

As a part of the agreement, Pierpont students who successfully complete an Associate of Applied Science program in Business Management, Medical Laboratory Technology, Physical Therapist Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technology, Criminal Justice, or Health Sciences with a GPA of 2.0 or better will be guaranteed admission into a complementary Glenville State bachelor's program. Additionally, those Pierpont students will receive a one time, one semester $500 scholarship for their first full time semester at GSC.

"This landmark agreement sets the stage for many more opportunities for our institutions to team together on initiatives and programs that are relevant and connected to the business needs of our region. I expect very great things to transpire between us," stated Glenville State College President Dr. Tracy Pellett.

"Pierpont Community & Technical College is excited about this landmark affiliation and relationship with our sister baccalaureate institute Glenville State. As north central West Virginia's community college - as Glenville State's neighboring community college - we are excited to educate and train the students and workers of north central WV, preparing them for entry-level employment and workforce readiness. This partnership with Glenville State allows our students the possibility to further their education, which will just create more opportunities for them," says Michael Waide, Interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Pierpont Community & Technical College. Waide continues, "At Pierpont, we are excited to expand upon the foundation of this relationship and explore more ways in which we can academically connect our students to Glenville State."

"The agreements that have been signed between our two institutions articulate six pathways for Pierpont Community and Technical College graduates to seamlessly continue onto a four year degree at Glenville State College. This is a wonderful opportunity for both institutions, as Pierpont students, once graduated, will become members of the Glenville State College community. We definitely consider this a win for Central West Virginia," said GSC Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Gary Morris.
