Homecoming 2026

GLENVILLE, WV – Glenville State University will celebrate its annual Homecoming Week October 19-24. A number of events are planned throughout the week for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends.

This year’s homecoming theme is “Glenchella” and is designed to mimic the feeling of a multi-day music festival.

Homecoming Weekend kicks off on Friday, October 23. The annual Tim Carney Golf Tournament tees off at 9:00 a.m. at the Glenville Golf Club. Contact Bill Lilly at (304) 462-6052 with questions about the tournament or to sign up.

Later in the day, the Homecoming parade through downtown Glenville kicks off at 3:00 p.m. Community groups, classic car owners, bands, and others who wish to participate in the Homecoming Parade may sign up by visiting www.glenville.edu/homecoming and clicking on the Community Homecoming Parade Entry Form link.

From 4:00-6:30 p.m. there will be an Alumni Social and Open House at the campus Alumni Center. Alumni and friends are invited to attend the social to visit with friends, hear a special musical performance by the band Woodbine, see alumni and Greek memorabilia, and enjoy refreshments.

Then, at 7:00 p.m., the Glenville State University Pioneers will take on the West Virginia University Mountaineers at the Waco Oil & Gas Shootout at the Waco Center. Tickets are required and may be purchased online at www.gstatepioneers.com.

Following the basketball game, activities and music from the band Dalchord will take place in the Amphitheater.

On Saturday, October 24, the GSU Alumni Office will be hosting an Alumni Brunch at Morris Stadium beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Morris Stadium parking lot opens at 10:00 a.m. for tailgating. At 11:00 a.m., the band Brasstaxx will perform, followed by the Thomas Jude Band at noon.

Former members of the Pioneer Marching Band are again invited to participate in this year’s Alumni Band. Returning members can register on Saturday morning, and will be recognized and play the fight song during the homecoming pregame show. To sign up, contact Jason.Barr@glenville.edu or Lloyd.Bone@glenville.edu.

Alumni members of returning Greek organizations will be holding tailgate reunions before the game. The groups will have special sections under the tailgate tent in close proximity to the larger alumni tent in which to visit and reminisce on Saturday. Additionally, the sisters of Delta Zeta are once again sponsoring a food drive – Homecoming attendees are reminded to bring along nonperishable goods to donate to the Glenville State University Pioneer Pantry (the campus food pantry for use by students).

Kickoff between the Glenville State Pioneers and the West Liberty University Hilltoppers happens at 1:30 p.m.

The Band to be Named Later will perform beginning at 5:00 p.m. just outside the Waco Center entrance prior to the GSU volleyball game versus Davis & Elkins College, which is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.

Other events, specifically for current students, will also take place throughout the week. For the full Glenchella concert lineup, visit www.glenville.edu/homecoming.
