Allison Drane receives Student Leadership Award

Glenville, WV – Allison Drane, a 2011 Glenville State College English Education (5-12) graduate, was presented with the Student Leadership Award at GSC’s commencement ceremony on May 14th.  Drane is the daughter of Tony and Melanie Drane of Friendly, West Virginia. She graduated from Wood County Christian School in 2007.

“This award confirmed my hopes that my professors and supervisors thought highly of my work and respected me as a person. I feel extremely honored to receive this award because I know so many other students who are excellent leaders. The Student Leadership Award was the ‘icing on the cake’ for my graduation; it made my last moments as a student at Glenville State College ten times more memorable,” said Drane.

At GSC, she was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, performed in the Bluegrass Band, was a member of the English Honor Society Sigma Tau Delta, the Education Honor Society Kappa Delta Pi, and worked as a Resident Assistant. She was the 2010-2011 Homecoming Queen and has also received the Isadore Nachman English Award, the English Department Award, and graduated Magna Cum Laude.

When she has free time, Drane loves basketball, reading, playing guitar for the First Baptist Church of Glenville’s Praise Team, and learning to play the banjo.
