Academic Support Center Luau
Glenville, WV—The Glenville State College Academic Support Center hosted an open house on Thursday, January 24th in it’s new location in Louis Bennett Hall. The purpose of the event was to familiarize GSC students, faculty, and staff with the center’s new location. The theme for the open house was a luau. Visitors were greeted with leis and treated to a lunch of hot dogs, fresh fruit salads, sherbet punch, and deserts. The ASC was festively decorated in a Hawaiian theme, which was a welcome escape from the cold West Virginia winter.

“Thanks to the wonderful effort of our staff, we are completely settled in and ready for the new semester,” said ASC Director Amy Fiddler. The facility now located on the first floor of Louis Bennett Hall has more room then the previous location in the Robert F. Kidd Library. GSC freshmen Samantha Fittro of Roane County, a Criminal Justice Major, agrees that the new location is bigger and better than before. “I am in the ASC almost everyday. Without the centers help, I would not be able to succeed her at GSC,” said Fittro.

Tutoring in the Academic Support Center is scheduled to begin the week of January 28. Student Support Services Teacher/Counselor Bill Bonnett is also holding a Math Club which meets from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Any GSC student is welcome to stop in for help with mathematics.
