GLENVILLE, WV – The annual Glenville State College Bluegrass Concert will be held on Saturday, October 19 at 7:00 p.m. in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium. The concert will feature Larry Gillis and The Hard Driving Swampgrass Band, as well as the GSC Bluegrass Band. Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

Gillis comes to GSC from Soperton, Georgia where he began his career in the 1990s as part of The Gillis Brothers. After a break to raise a family, Gillis has returned to the stage with a new band as Larry Gillis and The Hard Driving Swampgrass Band.

“Larry Gillis is a popular banjo player and singer from the Georgia swamp country. His music may be considered more of a mountain style associated with The Stanley Brothers,” said GSC Bluegrass Band Director Dr. Megan Darby. “Larry was a very fitting choice to showcase at our annual fall concert because we share the mission of preserving the traditional sound. There is no doubt when you hear his music and voice that he has lived the life he sings about, much like the Appalachian culture in which we live.”

General admission to the concert is $10 and free for children five and under.

A dinner with jambalaya and cornbread will be held in front of the Fine Arts Center before the concert, beginning at 5:00 p.m. Dinner is $8 each.

For more information, email or call (304) 462-6355. Tickets will be available for purchase on September 19 at the Pioneer Stage at 10 East Main Street, Glenville, West Virginia.
