GSC Business Professor Honored

Cinda Echard, Associate Professor of Vocational Business, was awarded the Faculty Award of Excellence at the 2009 Glenville State College commencement ceremony May 9th. “It is an honor to be recognized by my peers and to join other recipients of this distinguished award. Glenville State College has a tradition and spirit that really transforms the lives of those it touches,” said Echard.

The Faculty Award of Excellence is an annual award given to a full-time GSC teaching faculty member who is in a tenure-track position. Recipients of this award are nominated by colleagues, students, and/or staff members for their outstanding leadership, instruction, and attitude.

Echard received her Bachelor’s in Business degree from Glenville State College and her Master’s degree from Marshall University. She has also completed post graduate work at West Virginia University and Marshall University. Echard has 27 years of service at Glenville State College and says she loves the spirit and the traditions observed as a campus family.

Echard’s role at GSC includes providing instruction and advising for the BSBA Marketing program as well as serving as a Faculty Marshal, a Faculty Senator, and a member of College Leadership Council. She also helps with the Hidden Promise Scholars initiative and numerous college committees. She is a member of the West Virginia Statewide Business Plan Oversight Committee and other entrepreneurial initiatives within West Virginia.

Echard’s hometown is Burnsville, West Virginia but now resides in Glenville, West Virginia with husband Mark, who is also a Glenville State College graduate. They have a son, Matthew, and two daughters, Jessica and Ashley.
