Glenville, WV -- Glenville State College employee Jonathan Faber has just completed his first year working in the Print Shop. He has become one of the familiar faces on campus and is simply known as Todd. Even though he is a part of the campus community, many do not know that he is Sergeant First Class Faber, a Senior Drill Sergeant Leader. Faber has been in the U.S. Army Reserves for nineteen years this August.

“I am a Drill Sergeant at Drill Sergeant School,” Faber said, “I train Drill Sergeants to drill soldiers before they go to Iraq.” Faber traveled to Fort Jackson in Columbia, South Carolina on June 9th and will not return until August. Faber has answered his call to duty before, as do other members of the reserves, going away for the weekend, and then returning back to work on Monday. Faber will be leaving his wife and two-year-old son while he is away. “My son is too young to understand, but my wife said she misses me when I’m gone,” said Faber.

Faber was born in Gassaway in Braxton County, but grew up in Parkersburg. He graduated from West Virginia Institute of Technology in Montgomery with a degree in Printing Management and lived and worked in the Carolinas for twelve years. “I was a team leader for printing and direct mail for Hearst Magazines for six years,” Faber said. Hearst Magazines produces periodicals such as Good Housekeeping, Redbook, and Harper’s Bazaar. Faber decided to move back to West Virginia in July of 2006 and accepted a job at Glenville State College as the Manager of the campus print shop.

Faber currently resides in Smithville, West Virginia with his wife and two-year-old son. The GSC community wishes him well and hopes that he has a safe trip. They look forward to his return from his patriotic duty in August.
