GSC Fall 2009 Semester Ending
Fri Dec 4, 2009

It has been another successful semester at Glenville State College. A large freshman class became familiar with college life and upper classmen were welcomed back to the campus. Sights included sororities and fraternities gaining new pledges, student organizations holding fundraisers and community service activities, and the GSC Pioneer Football Team beating Shepherd on a nationally televised game.

“This semester has been a great new experience for me that has allowed me to meet new friends as well as be part of GSC Theatre. I love being on stage. Next Spring, I will be directing a one-act production, and I am very excited,” said Justin Blankenship, a Freshman Education Major from Gassaway in Braxton County.

Laural Smith, a Junior Special Education Major from Frederick, Maryland said, “Being from out of state, I always look forward to returning to the beautiful state of West Virginia to receive my education. This was my most demanding yet most rewarding semester here at GSC.”

“I believe the students on and off campus enjoyed all the activities and events offered to them this semester, and I am looking forward to a great Spring 2010 semester,” said Pickens Hall Resident Director Andrew Lewis.

Department of Criminal Justice Chair Dr. Jami Myers, said, “This was the first semester of the new Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Major, and I am extremely happy with the amount of interest it has received. The program has already 40 students signed up for it. Some even switched majors after hearing it was being offered. I am looking forward for next semester as many new criminal justice classes will be offered.”

Another new GSC program is being offered by the Department of Business, the Nonprofit Leadership and Management Minor and the American Humanics Certification. Representatives of the American Humanics Student Association will be attending AHMI (American Humanics Management and Leadership Institute) in Phoenix, Arizona this January.

January 11th is the first day of Spring 2010 semester classes at Glenville State College. For more information about classes, programs, and degrees, or enrolling, contact the GSC Admissions Department at (800) 924-2010.
