College Goal Sunday GLENVILLE, WV- To help students with their financial aid for the 2013-2014 school year, the staff of the Glenville State College Office of Financial Aid will be hosting College Goal Sunday on Sunday February 10th. This event will be held in the Robert F. Kidd Library from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and will be one of 23 other College Goal events throughout the state.

College Goal Sunday provides an opportunity for students and parents alike to have financial aid experts provide free, confidential, and professional support to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA). Whether you are a high school senior, current college student, or an adult looking to go back to college, this event will guide you through the necessary process to complete your financial aid application.  All information provided is submitted through the federal government’s secure FASFA network.

“Completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, commonly called the FAFSA, is the first important step in applying for federal and state financial aid. This one document holds the key to determining eligibility for most programs.  To qualify for the WV PROMISE, high school students must have the FAFSA and PROMISE application submitted by March 1st,” said GSC Financial Aid Director Karen Lay.

Students who participate in the College Goal Sunday event will be entered to win an Apple iPad. Individuals who plan to attend college, would like help with the completion of the FASFA, or would like answers regarding general financial aid questions are encouraged to attend.

Online pre-registration is recommended, but is not required. To pre-register and view a complete list of what to bring, visit College Foundation of West Virginia, at www.cfwv.com, or call (304) 558-0655. All information shared is protected by privacy laws.

Glenville State College Admissions personnel, as well as representatives from GEAR UP, Army ROTC, the Veterans Administration, and Vocational Rehabilitation, will be present to answer questions.

Volunteers from the West Virginia Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program will also be present to assist with free tax preparation for students and families who are submitting their FASFA. Certain restrictions may apply.
