Coach Dwane Osborne submits resignation letterGlenville State College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Dwaine Osborne has submitted his resignation effective June 22, 2009. Osborne is stepping down after seven years at GSC, to take on a new challenge as the Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of Texas Permian Basin. "I want to thank Dr. Barr (current GSC president), Dr. Freeman (former GSC president), Janet Bailey (current GSC athletic director), and Steve Harold (former GSC athletic director) for giving me the opportunity to coach at Glenville State College. Glenville will always hold a special place in the hearts of my family and I. We are extremely grateful for the relationships that have come from our time here."

Osborne was named the Pioneer’s Head Coach in the spring of 2005, after serving for three years as an assistant coach with the program. The Pioneers are coming off their best season in sixteen years, compiling a 20-9 record, their first 20 win season in Division II competition, finishing 5th in the WVIAC regular season standings, and advancing to the conference tournament quarterfinals. "I am very proud of my assistant coaches and players over the past four years. All of their hard work led to this past season’s turnaround of the program. The first 20-win season for GSC as a NCAA II institution is something we can all take great pride in. I am very thankful that I had the opportunity to be a small part of this success. While I will greatly miss Glenville, I am excited about the challenges that lie ahead. I believe that my time here has been productive and has prepared me for this opportunity."

“Coach Osborne has been a tremendous asset to the Pioneer program. Glenville State College is sad to see him leave but wish him well in his new challenge,” said Glenville State College Athletic Director Janet Bailey.

Osborne will remain at GSC through June 22nd in order to conduct the Pioneer Individual Basketball Camp (June 14-17) and the Pioneer Team Basketball Camp (June 19-21).

A national search will begin immediately to find the next Pioneer coach. “I am confident that GSC will be successful in attracting a quality coach to take over the program,” said Bailey.
