Glenville, WV – Final preparations are being made for this year’s Homecoming at Glenville State College, which will be on Saturday, October 24th. The annual homecoming parade will kick off the day’s activities at 10:00 a.m. on Main Street in Glenville. Those interested in being part of the parade will need to complete a registration form with GSC’s Student Government Association by October 15th. To obtain a form, call the SGA Office at (304) 462-6419. For more information or in case there isn’t an answer at the SGA number, please contact the Office of Student Affairs at (304) 462-4114 and leave a message for one of the SGA Officers.

“Forever a Champion” has been chosen as the theme for this year’s Homecoming. The 1:00 p.m. pregame activities at Morris Stadium will feature the Homecoming Court and the 2009 Montrose and Williams award winners. The homecoming game, also at Morris Stadium and between the Glenville State Pioneers and the West Virginia Wesleyan Bobcats, will kick off at 1:30 p.m.

This year’s special Homecoming honorees will be everyone (whether they graduated or not) who was part of The Mercury Staff (1929-2001), The Phoenix Staff (since 2005), and their faculty advisors. This recognition is a small tribute to them and the College’s way of recognizing their lifetime connection to GSC. For planning purposes, RSVPs are needed by October 15th and should be directed to the College’s Alumni Office at (304) 462-4122.

GSC’s Third Annual Golf Tribute Tournament will be held homecoming weekend as well. This annual event will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23rd at the Glenville Golf Club. For more information or to register for the tournament, contact Greg Smith, GSC’s Head Men’s Golf Coach, at (304) 462-5634 or Crystal Davis, GSC’s Head Women’s Golf Coach, at (304) 462-6235.

Homecoming is a time for renewing college friendships, making new acquaintances, exchanging college experiences, and enjoying Pioneer Camaraderie as everyone comes together to cheer for the Glenville Pioneers. Student Government Association President Marlon Henry encourages community participation in the weekend’s activities.

Questions about Homecoming should be directed to the GSC Student Government Association at (304) 462-6419 or to GSC’s Alumni Office at (304) 462-4122, local, or (866) 239-0285, toll free.
