GSC HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES ANNOUNCED

Glenville, WV—Planning continues for numerous activities for the first week of October, which will be Homecoming Week at Glenville State College. GSC Homecoming Committee Member and Student Government Association Secretary, Christina Braden, says the committee has been busy meeting and planning the festivities.

“On Tuesday, October 3rd, the Homecoming Picnic will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the campus amphitheater. During that event, SGA members will make a gift presentation to the campus. We’re also planning a carnival on Friday, October 6th from 2-8 p.m. in the Mollohan Campus Community Center,” said Braden

GSC SGA Parliamentarian and Bon Fire Event Chairperson, Donte Fuller, says students, staff, faculty, alumni, and local residents can really show their Pioneer Spirit on Thursday of Homecoming Week. “The bonfire and pep rally will take place October 5th at the Morris Stadium Practice Field beginning at 8:00 p.m. We hope to see many people out there cheering on our Pioneers and introducing our new college President, Dr. Peter Barr, and Mrs. Barr to their first GSC Bon Fire,” said Fuller.

The Pioneer Athletic Club Pioneer Pigskin Roast is scheduled on Friday evening, October 6th, at 6:00 p.m. at Morris Stadium. GSC Athletic Director Steve Harold said, “Tickets are now on sale for event, and prices are $10.00 for a single ticket, $15.00 for a couple, and $5.00 for kids ages 12 and under.” For more information and tickets for the Pioneer Pigskin Roast, call 462-4102.

Homecoming Day takes place on Saturday, October 7th with a day full of activities beginning with the homecoming parade at 10:00 a.m. and then the Homecoming Game at 1:30 p.m. when the GSC Pioneers take on Fairmont State. Several pre-game festivities will also take place including the coronation of the Homecoming King and Queen and presentations of two prestigious athletic awards, the Frank Montrose and Clarissa Williams awards, to this year’s winners.

Homecoming will wrap up later that evening with a dance from 8:00 until 11:00 p.m. For more information on Glenville State homecoming activities, call the GSC Public Relations Department at (304) 462-7361 x7603 or the GSC Student Government Association at (304) 462-7361x7419.
