Wednesday, April 23rd in the Fine Arts Auditorium. GSC recognized twenty-seven students for exceptional academic accomplishments and contributions to the Glenville State College community. Dr. Kathy Butler, GSC Provost and Senior Vice President, presided over the event.

Associate Professor and Dean of Teacher Education Kevin Cain presented academic achievement awards to senior Kyre-Anna Minney of Gilmer County, senior Kelly S. Clevenger from Lewis County, senior Katheryn K. Murray of Jackson County, senior Everett M. Wine of Braxton County, and fall 2007 graduate Heather Phares of Gilmer County.

Wayne de Rosset, associate professor of English and Department Chair, presented an academic achievement award to senior Brandy L.

Senior Lori A. Ware of Clay County received an academic achievement award from the GSC Fine Arts Department. The award was presented to her by Assistant Professor of Music and Department Chair Lloyd Bone Jr.

Academic achievement awards for the Department of Land Resources were presented by Professor of Forestry & Land Surveying and Department Chair Rick Sypolt to senior Roger Gribble of Ritchie County, sophomore Wesley L. Long of Wirt County, and senior Jessica M. Lantz of Upshur County.

Theresa Cowan Assistant Professor of Nursing and Department Chair presented Science and Math Academic Awards to senior Faith N. Harper of Braxton County, senior Jacob R. Lilly of Gilmer County, Candice S. Silberschatz of Texas, and sophomore Jeanette L. Starcher of Calhoun County.

Department of Social Science Academic Awards were presented by Professor of Political Science and Department Chair Dr. Michael Smith to senior Robert C. Carr of Braxton County, senior Marlena N. Dean of Student Affairs Jerry Burkhammer presented three Student Affairs Awards. Senior Christina Braden of Jackson County received the Outstanding Student Organization Leader Award for her work with the GSC Student Education Association. Braden also accepted the Outstanding Student Organization Award on behalf of the SEA. Burkhammer presented Dr. Arthur DeMatteo with the Outstanding Student Organization Advisor Award for his service with the GSC

“These are students who make a real difference at Glenville State College in the classroom, on the campus, and in the community. They are truly engaged students,” said GSC President Dr. Peter Barr.
