Glenville, WV— Come one and all, ye lords and ladies of the realm. Celebrate the coming of the yuletide season with a sumptuous feast. Enjoy beautiful strains of yuletide music, as performed by singers of the Royal court, the Herald Trumpets, and other wandering Musicians. Delight to the antics of the court jester, and bow in awe to the Royal King, Queen, and their Court.

On Friday, November 9th, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. in the Mollohan Campus Community Center Ballroom, the Glenville State College Fine Arts Department, along with the English/Theatre Department will be hosting an evening of great food and entertainment, at the GSC 2007 Madrigal Feast. This will be the first time in over a decade that the event is being staged.

As in the days of Merry Olde England, the evening will combine a Medieval King Arthur’s Court atmosphere with a delicious feast served by GSC students from the English and Music Departments, all dressed in costumes of the period. The GSC Chamber Singers under the direction of Dr. Carol Benton, the Brass Ensemble under the Direction of Lloyd Bone, and the Early Music Consort directed by Dr. Donna Maher will all be performing Renaissance-era music.

The Royal Court will be consisting of well-known local citizens recruited for the honor. Small roles are available for men and women to perform at the presentation. A town Cryer, a Chamberlain, and a Jester are also being cast. No prior stage experience is required, and costumes will be provided. Interested parties should contact Dennis Wemm, Glenville State College Professor of Communications, at (304) 462-7361 ext. 7323.

Only two hundred and forty tickets are available for the 2007 GSC Madrigal Feast. All seating will be reserved and tickets will be sold in advance only. Ticket prices are $12 for students, $15 for GSC faculty and staff, and $22 for guests. You may purchase any number of individual seats, or reserve an entire table for a group of family or friends. Tickets are now on sale, and can be purchased at Dining Services in the Mollohan Campus Community Center from Lois Miller or Stephen Shattuck. Tickets can be purchased with cash or credit cards.
