GSC to Host Reader’s Theatre Performance of “A Christmas Carol”

Glenville, WV – Glenville State College will be hosting a reader’s theatre performance of “A Christmas Carol” on Wednesday, December 4 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Presidents’ Auditorium. Faculty, staff, and students from the Departments of Criminal Justice, Education, Health and Physical Education, Language and Literature, and Social Science, the President’s Office, and the Office of Academic Affairs are participating in the showing. Seating begins at 6:40 p.m. and there will be no admission charge.

Prior to the show, hot chocolate and holiday themed treats will be available from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the hallway outside of the Presidents’ Auditorium.

Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” is the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge and his transformation from greedy miser to charitable humanitarian. This reader’s theater retelling will feature Brittany Benson, Dr. Jeffrey Bryson, Dr. Kaitlin Ensor, Maureen Gildein, Dr. Donal Hardin, Dr. Jeff Hunter, Katie Miller, Dr. Gary Morris, Dr. Kathy Nelson, Logan Saho, and Jennifer Wenner.

Reader’s theater performances feature no sets, props, or costumes. This theatrical format relies on the actors effective use of voice, gestures, and facial expressions to portray the characters in the story to the audience.
