Glenville, WV – The Glenville State College Fine Arts Department will be hosting the annual Jazz Band Concert on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. This concert will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the GSC Fine Arts Center Auditorium.

This annual event will consist of crowd favorites such as ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing)’by Duke Ellington and ‘Mercy, Mercy, Mercy’ by Buddy Rich, and will host an array of genres from swing to 70’s rock. This performance is free to Glenville State College students with their ID’s and general admission is by donation to the GSC Jazz Band.

“Two of the selections I have chosen will feature students who will be student teaching in the near future. ‘Isfahan,’ written by Duke Ellington and arranged by Alan Baylock, features alto saxophonist Lori Ware, while ‘Dancing in the Candlelight,’ one of my own compositions, features J.D. Messenger on trumpet. They are both fine musicians, and I felt compelled to program showpieces for them,” said GSC Jazz Band Director Dr. David Lewis.
