GSC Music Audition Day A Success
Mon Mar 1, 2010

The annual Glenville State College Department of Fine Arts ‘Music Audition Day’ held on Tuesday, February 23rd is being called a success. The event took place from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and was held in the GSC Fine Arts Center. Eleven students from across the state auditioned giving them an opportunity to receive scholarships from the GSC Music Department. Due to inclement weather, the original date of February 16th was cancelled. Some students could not attend the event on the day it was rescheduled, so other audition times are being scheduled during the remainder of the semester.

“During auditions, we listen to students perform scales, etudes, solos, or whatever type of music they prepared for us to listen to. We speak to them concerning their grades, ACT scores, their high school activities, honor bands/choirs they may have been involved in, their career goals, and other important information,” said GSC Department of Fine Arts Chair Lloyd Bone.

‘Music Audition Day’ participants also meet the entire GSC music faculty as well as talk to select members of GSC administration, see performances by all the major ensembles, eat lunch with current GSC music program students. To schedule an audition time or for more information, contact GSC Department of Fine Arts Assistant Sheri Skidmore at Sheri.Skidmore@glenville.edu or at (304) 462-4130.
