Glenville, WV – Glenville State College has been recognized as a 2020 - 2021 Military Friendly School by the Military Friendly® Schools survey, the longest-running and most comprehensive review of college and university investments in serving active duty, reserve and guard service members, veterans, and military spouses.

The Military Friendly School list provides a comprehensive guide for military, veterans, and their families using public data sources, proprietary data from the Military Friendly Schools survey, and personal data from surveys of military and veterans. To receive the Military Friendly designation, institutions are scored based on metrical benchmarks, federal programs, and federal precautionary flags. Final ratings are determined by combining the institution’s survey scores with the assessment of the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation rates, job placement, loan repayment, persistence (degree advancement or transfer), and loan default rates for students who are active duty, reserve and guard service members, veterans, or military spouses.

“First and foremost, I would like to extend a thank-you to all student veterans, as well as faculty and staff that have made the great sacrifice for our country,” said GSC Veterans Advisor Jessica Griffin. “It is my honor and privilege to work with such a diverse group. GSC’s Veteran Support Services, located in the Academic Success Center, provide an array of services such as assistance with educational benefits and veteran certification services. Here at GSC, our student veterans and dependents enjoy a space dedicated to them as the Veteran Lounge located in Goodwin Hall. You each have given our country your life, time, energy, and love, so please allow myself and the campus community of Glenville State College to serve and support your educational needs.”

“Jessica Griffin works diligently to ensure that the veterans attending Glenville State College receive the educational benefits and respect that they have earned,” said student veteran Sabrina Gonzalez.

The 2020-2021 Military Friendly Schools will be published in the May issue of G.I. Jobs Magazine.
