Glenville, WV - The Glenville State College faculty and staff invite all friends and family of GSC students to attend the 2012 Pioneer Family Day on Saturday, October 13th.

“Pioneer Family Day is a great opportunity for not just parents of GSC students but for the entire family to come and enjoy a great day here in Glenville.” said GSC College Completion Center Academic Coordinator Tashua Allman-Duval, who is organizing the event.

Beginning at 9:00 a.m. visitors can check in at Goodwin Hall where coffee and pastries will be served.  At 10:00 a.m., informational sessions will begin in the Goodwin Hall conference room. Employees from Financial Aid, Residence Life, Academic Support and other offices will be present and available to talk to parents about the many aspects of campus life that their students have been experiencing as well as answer any questions parents may still have.

Due to the construction of GSC’s new Pioneer Center, parking at the Morris Stadium is limited. Shuttles will transport Family Day participants to the field for a tailgate lunch hosted by President Dr. Peter Barr and his wife Betsy at 11:00 a.m. This is a perfect opportunity for family members to mingle with the faculty and staff. Following lunch, guests are invited to cheer on the Pioneers at 1:00 p.m. in a football game against West Virginia State University.

After the game, a community fair will take place at 4:00 p.m. in downtown Glenville at the City Square town park. Representatives from local businesses, churches, and other civic organizations will be on hand so parents can learn about more area services available.

“We also encourage the community to come out and participate by cheering on the Pioneers at the game and enjoy the community fair downtown.” said Allman-Duval. “It will be a great day and fun for the entire family.”

A murder mystery dinner theatre will start on campus at 6:30 p.m. Eileen Moushey’s All My Murders will be presented by GSC Student Life and Alpha Psi Omega members as well as the GSC Theatre students.

Those wishing to attend Pioneer Family Day should RSVP by Wednesday October 10th. To RSVP or for additional information, contact Allman-Duval by e-mail at Tashua.Allman@glenville.edu or by phone at (304) 462-6051.
