Dr. Jill Haasch recieves Outstanding Advisor Award

Dr. Jill Haasch received an award at the 2009 Glenville State College Honors Convocation held on Wednesday, April 23rd. The awards recognized students and faculty who have demonstrated exceptional academic accomplishments, made contributions to the Glenville State College Community, and have distinguished themselves among their peers, the faculty, and staff.

Glenville State College Student Affairs honored Dr. Haasch with the Outstanding Student Organization Advisor Award. She is the faculty advisor of Alpha Theta Xi Sorority, one of the most well-known and involved student organizations on the GSC campus. Alpha Theta Xi received the 2009 Outstanding Student Organization Award marking the second time the group has received the award in the past four years. Under the advisement of Dr. Jill Haasch, Alpha Theta Xi is known as an organization that cares about children and community engagement. The organization completed over six service projects this past fall, including a fundraiser to raise awareness and funding for a child in Clay County with leukemia. Members of the Alpha Theta Xi sorority say, “She helps us find new ways to give back to our community. She also encourages us to be the best we can be. She is a great advisor and gives our sorority an extra boost of personality. Dr. Haasch has an amazing helping spirit and she uses that spirit to help our sorority grow and form a better bond of sisterhood. We appreciate her and her effort more then she knows.”

Dr. Jill Haasch is an Assistant Professor of Psychology with four years of service at GSC. “Volunteering has always been a big part of my life. I started helping with the church fair in elementary school. When I was in middle school, I volunteered at the Milwaukee County Zoo. One of the most exciting events that I participated in was crowd control in the dog agility area at the ESPN games in Reno, Nevada,” she said.

“Dr. Haasch is being recognized for her part in making Glenville State College the best small public college in the country. She represents the many students, faculty, and staff who make this college a special place,” said GSC President Dr. Peter Barr.
