Glenville, WV—A Glenville State College media guide is featured in the 31st American Graphic Design Awards Annual. The 350-page catalog contains the 2007 American Graphic Design Award winners who were chosen from over eleven thousand entries. Glenville State College is one of the few colleges or universities receiving mention in the national publication.

The winning GSC Media Guide is the work of Heather Phares, a recent Glenville State College graduate. Phares won the award for her design of the 2006-2007 Lady Pioneer Basketball Media Guide. She has been working on GSC basketball and football media guides for the last four years in conjunction with the GSC Athletic and Public Relations departments. Phares was chosen as a winner in the student category. All winners receive an embossed certificate of excellence and are reproduced in the American Graphic Design Awards Annual.

The graphic design competition is open to advertising agencies, graphic design firms, as well as corporate, institutional, and in-house publishing departments. The award recognizes outstanding new work including print and collateral, advertising and sales promotions, packaging and point-of purchase, internet and interactive design, broadcast and motion graphics, and corporate identity logos.

Phares graduated from Glenville State College in December with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education with an emphasis in Early Education PreK-K. She is currently substitute teaching and continues to work on GSC media guides.
