GSC ROTC to Hold Information Session

The Glenville State College ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) unit will be holding an introductory and informational presentation on Wednesday, January 19 at 12 p.m. in the Presidents Auditorium in the Heflin Administration Building.

All GSC students, faculty and staff, as well as any high school students and other interested persons are invited to attend to learn more about the ROTC.

ROTC recruiter Second Lieutenant CherRita Varner of Charleston will be conducting a thirty-minute power point presentation about the ROTC.

“I will be discussing how ROTC classes are conducted, who is eligible, scholarships and financial opportunities, and general information about the ROTC,” said Varner.

The Glenville State College ROTC program resumed operation during the fall 2010 semester, after a ten-year hiatus. Sergeant First Class Daniel Webb is the ROTC Instructor at Glenville State College.

The GSC unit is part of the Yellow Jacket Battalion that includes units from West Virginia State University, the University of Charleston, and West Virginia University Tech. Currently there are over twenty-four members of the GSC ROTC unit.
