Glenville, WV – Glenville State College students who live on campus have been enjoying new satellite television service in their rooms. GSC Vice President for Enrollment Management Duane Chapman said, “Satellite television is just one of many incentives for students to be interested in Glenville State College in addition to academic programs.” The satellite television offers extra channels that the school can use to broadcast information. Chapman feels this service is also a broad utilization tool to expand communication between students and faculty at GSC.

Glenville State College Dean of Student Affairs Jerry Burkhammer said, “The new satellite television service enhances living on campus incredibly. There will be fewer issues with the satellite than with cable.” Burkhammer feels that the GSC channels will be a future possibility for communication minors to get a chance to air their own programs. He says these channels can also be used to show old clips from GSC archives such as athletic or fine arts events.

The new satellite television has a diverse selection across seventy six stations including: Fox, ABC, History Channel, National Geographic, NASA, American Movie Classic, Food Network, MTV, BET, ESPN, and many more. GSC Sophomore Land Resources Major Ryan Thomas says, “The satellite television is a welcomed change that has been much needed in the residence halls.” Thomas is happy that he now has the CBS College Sports channel since it aired the nationally televised GSC football game against Shepherd University in November.

GSC Junior Special Education Major Laural Smith says, “I think it is making the selection of shows a lot better. I will no longer miss my favorite shows I previously was unable to watch.”
