Glenville, WV – Three Glenville State College students will perform in their Junior Recital on Monday, November 9th at 3:00 p.m. in the Glenville State College Fine Arts Recital Hall. This afternoon event is free to the public and will feature many classic pieces.

Thomas Jude with Trumpet

Thomas Jude is a junior majoring in Music Education from Delbarton, West Virginia (Mingo County). He is a member of Alpha Xi Omega, the Pioneer Marching Band, the pep band, concert band, jazz band, and concert choir. After graduating in 2011, Jude plans to attend a graduate school to further his music education.

“The GSC Fine Arts Department has provided me with the opportunity to grow as a musician and person. I am now ready to demonstrate the skills I have acquired during my time here in the next step of my life,” said Jude. He will be playing on the trumpet movements from ‘Hummel Concerto’ by Johann Nepomuk Hummel and ‘Believe Me If All Those Endearing Young Charms’ by Thomas Moore and arranged by Donald Hunsberger.

Kenny Noland with Euphonium

Kenny Noland is a senior Music Major with a concentration in Instrumental Performance (Euphonium) from Oakland, Maryland. Noland is a member of the Pioneer Marching Band, concert band, concert choir, chamber singers, brass ensemble, and jazz band. He also serves as drum major for the Garrett Highlands Pipes and Drums of Garrett County, Maryland. Noland was part of the Tuba/Euphonium ensemble that represented GSC at the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference in 2008 and will perform at the same conference in Tucson, Arizona in 2010. He will graduate in the fall of 2010 and attend a graduate school for music history.

“I have selected to play for my junior recital a piece from ‘Spring Suite’ by Barton Cummings and a ‘Sonata for Unaccompanied Trombone or Euphonium’ by Fred Clinard,” said Noland.

Ryan Deems with Euphonium

Ryan Deems is a senior Music Education major from Clarksburg, West Virginia. Deems is a member of the Pioneer Marching Band, concert band, concert choir, brass ensemble, chamber singers, and jazz band. He is also a member of the Tuba/Euphonium ensemble that played at the 2008 International Tuba and Euphonium Conference and has been selected to perform at that conference again next year in Tucson, Arizona. Deems served as Senior Prince in the 2009 GSC Homecoming Court. He will graduate in the spring of 2011 and plans to become a music educator.

“I've learned so much from the faculty at Glenville State College. I can't wait for this opportunity to perform for my friends and family,” said Deems. He will perform ‘The Hollow’ by Andrew Creagh and selected movements from ‘Six Studies in English Folk Songs’ by Ralph Vaughn Williams.
