Glenville, WV—Very few people stay in one place, doing the same job for over three decades. Jim Hinter did just that. Hinter, a 1969

graduate of Glenville State College began teaching at his alma mater in 1972, found a home, and stayed for an amazing 35 years. “It was a good job, a really great place to work with wonderful people. That’s what kept me here for all those years,” said Hinter.

The long-time business professor graduated from GSC with a business management degree and earned his Masters in Business Administration from Marshall University. During his tenure at GSC, Hinter has taught the entire gamut of business courses. Several of his former students are now employed by Glenville State College, and hundreds more are scattered across the country using the knowledge he passed along. “Glenville State College has CPAs all over the state. Our students get an education that allows them to be very successful,” said Hinter.

Professor Hinter officially retired from GSC on August 10th, 2007. The GSC Business Department hosted a reception in Hinter’s honor on October 31st in the Mollohan Center for co-workers and friends to offer their congratulations and best wishes. Hinter is looking forward to working his farm in Doddridge County and spending time enjoying the outdoors, “but I will really miss the students, faculty and staff here at Glenville State College,” he commented.

So how does someone keep the same job for their entire career, “You’ve got to work at it every day, you have to make the effort, and you’ve got to love what you do,” said Hinter.
