GSC First Dog Scooter
Glenville, WV -- When passing the President’s house at Glenville State College, you will often hear a dog barking, and a little black schnauzer-poodle mix appears at the front door. The little dog is Scooter, Glenville State College’s ‘First Dog.’ GSC’s President Peter Barr and his wife Betsy have had Scooter for five years after rescuing him from an animal shelter in South Carolina. “He was thought to be five years old when we got him,” said Mrs. Barr. “He was well trained, and he obeys very well.” The Barrs have enjoyed Scooter’s company since then.

Scooter loves receiving visitors at the GSC President’s house. He usually barks before visitors get the chance to ring the doorbell. Mrs. Barr said, “He’s my doorbell.” Scooter enjoys being out in the sun and is often seen outside sunbathing on the lawn. The ‘First Dog’ enjoys the students as much as the students enjoy him. “He misses the students during the breaks,” said Mrs. Barr. “He loves to watch them pass by the house.”
