Jaffre Receives GSC Student Leadership Award

Jessica Jaffre of Glenville has received the 2010 Glenville State College Student Leadership Award. GSC President Dr. Peter Barr presented the award to her during the commencement ceremony on May 8th. Jaffre is a 2010 Glenville State College Magna Cum Laude graduate. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education K-6, English Education 5-Adult, and Music Education PreK-Adult. Jaffre said, “It was such a blessing to listen to some of the descriptions professors said about me. I am so grateful for this award.”

While attending Glenville State College, Jaffree was involved in Pioneer Cheerleading, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Student Government Association, English Revolutionary Society, Kappa Delta Pi, MENC, Student Support Services, Pioneer Marching Band, Concert Choir, Woodwind Ensemble, Chamber Singers, and Concert Band. She was on the Provost’s Honor Roll or President’s Honor Roll every semester at GSC and received numerous academic recognitions.

“Glenville State was the absolute best college for me to attend. The education, english, and music programs were all excellent and as far as I’m concerned, the best in the state. I loved how at GSC, professors knew you not only by name but by your story as well,” said Jaffre.

Jaffre graduated from Gilmer County High School in 2005. She enjoys reading, playing music, spending time with friends, and planning her June 2010 wedding.
