Dr. Sherry Jones, Glenville State College Department of Business Chair, has received the 2010 Faculty Award of Excellence. GSC President Dr. Peter Barr presented the award to her during the commencement ceremony on May 8th. Jones said, “I am honored to receive this award and would like to thank my peers and students who nominated me. There are many great faculty members at GSC who inspire me and deserve to be recognized for their efforts, so I am very humbled and appreciative of being chosen.”

Jones has over twenty years of service at Glenville State College and says she loves the small town atmosphere of the campus. Many of her family members are GSC alumni or former GSC faculty/staff members. The lifelong Gilmer County resident lives in Sand Fork with her husband David. They have two sons, Christopher and Cason.

Jones served as Co-Valedictorian of Gilmer County High School Class of 1972 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from GSC in December 1975. She received a Master’s Degree in Education from West Virginia University in August 1984 and earned her Ph.D. in Education from the University of Tennessee in August 2008 with concentrations in Mathematics Teacher Education and Mathematics.
