GLENVILLE, WV – The Waco Center at Glenville State College will be the site of a boy’s and girl’s six-day high school basketball tournament this December. The Independent Oil & Gas Association (IOGA) Classic tournament is being hosted at GSC and will take place Monday, December 16 through Saturday, December 21.

Schools slated to participate in the girl’s bracket include Gilmer County, Bridgeport, Clay County, Calhoun County, Nicholas County, Webster County, Roane County, and Braxton County. The boys bracket consists of Gilmer County, Bridgeport, Meadow Bridge, Roane County, Braxton County, and Nicholas County.

The student participants of the tournament are eligible to apply for a Glenville State College scholarship that is being funded by IOGA. The available scholarships will be awarded to qualified seniors who will attend GSC and pursue a degree in relation to the support and development of the oil and gas industry.

“We are excited to be part of the fourth annual IOGA Basketball Classic,” said IOGAWV Executive Director Charlie Burd. “We are impressed with the array of student athletes coming together from ten high schools across the state. This is a great opportunity to highlight not only these high school athletes, but also the tremendous facilities at the Waco Center and the entire Glenville State College campus.”

“The Glenville State College foundation appreciates the generous donations made by IOGAWV for the student participants of this tournament. These scholarships help students in central West Virginia and beyond to further their education,” said GSC Director of Fundraising, Ashley Knight. “We also have game day, activity, and team sponsorship options available for local businesses,” Knight added.
