Glenville, WV – A Glenville State College student recently had the opportunity to shadow a delegate in the West Virginia Legislature for one week during the regular sixty-day session as part of the Frasure-Singleton Internship.

Fairan Gill, a junior history and political science major from Victor, West Virginia, shadowed Delegate Sue Cline (R – Wyoming) during her internship. “It was very eye-opening,” said Gill. “I was able to see the gritty parts of law-making. Overall, it was a great experience and I met some amazing people.”
As a history major, Gill says she enjoyed the historical aspects of her internship as well. “I love anything with historical significance. During the internship we were able to go to the West Virginia Cultural Center and go into the archives, which was the highlight of my trip.”

“I would suggest [the internship] to those with a strong love of politics and that see a future with it,” Gill added.

The Frasure-Singleton Internship is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors from public and private institutions across West Virginia. Students attend meetings and public hearings, sit on the floor during daily legislative sessions, and aid legislatures in research, constituent requests, and other legislative tasks.
