Trophy to be Presented to Pioneer Football Team

The Glenville State College Pioneer Football team will be honored during halftime of the GSC/Wheeling Jesuit University men’s basketball game Thursday, January 22nd at the Jesse R. Lilly Gymnasium. The 2008 WVIAC Championship Trophy will be presented to the team.

Head Coach Alan Fiddler and his staff guided the Pioneers to their first WVIAC title since 2001, with an outstanding 7-1 conference record. Overall, the Pioneers finished 8-3, with one of their three losses to NCAA Division I Liberty University.

The Championship Trophy will be presented to the Pioneers by West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Associate Commissioner Will Prewitt. “I am pleased that we will be recognizing the Pioneer’s great season by presenting the Championship Trophy to them in front of their student body and fans from the community,” said Prewitt. Senior Jerry Seymour will also be presented the award for WVIAC Offensive Player of the Year, and Coach Fiddler will be recognized as WVIAC Coach of the Year.

GSC students, faculty, staff and the community are encouraged to come out and show their appreciation to the Glenville State College Pioneer football team.
