Tucker County Native Receives Award

 Holli Owens, Glenville State College 2009 Magna Cum Laude graduate, received the Student Leadership Award at GSC’s commencement ceremonies May 9th. When asked about this great honor, Owens said, “I was not expecting to receive this award, but it was a pleasant surprise. I am very grateful to have received such an honor. I am also very thankful that I chose to attend Glenville State College for the faculty, staff, and community became a huge part of my life, like a family.”

During her time at GSC, Owens was very active in many organizations and was president of the cycling club. Away from school, Owens was crowned Ms. West Virginia in April 2007. She represented Glenville State College and her hometown of Parsons greatly when she won first-runner up at the Ms. United States Pageant in Las Vegas in 2007.

Owens graduated from Glenville State College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. Owens said, “When I came to GSC, it felt like home. I know my professors personally, and they know me; you just don’t get that at a bigger school.”
