Youth Bluegrass Camp Planned at Glenville State College Bluegrass Music Education Center during WV State Folk Festival

GLENVILLE, WV – A youth bluegrass camp is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, June 16 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Glenville State College Pioneer Stage Bluegrass Music Education Center, located at 10 East Main Street in downtown Glenville. Coinciding with the West Virginia State Folk Festival, the camp is designed for students interested in learning the deep-rooted tradition of bluegrass music. The camp will be hosted by Dr. Megan Darby and members of the Glenville State College Bluegrass Band.

Registration will begin at 9:00 a.m., one hour before the start of instruction. In addition to quality instruction, the camp will provide lunch, a snack, a craft, and a certificate. Admission to the camp is $40.00 per student.

Youth and community jam sessions will be held at the Pioneer Stage on Thursday, June 17, Friday, June 18, and Saturday, June 19 from 6:00-10:00 p.m. during the Folk Festival. This will be an opportunity for camp participants to have fun, learn, and practice their new skills.

An ongoing tradition in Glenville since 1950, the annual West Virginia State Folk Festival begins on the third Thursday in June.
