Glenville State University Students Unite to Stop the Stigma of Mental Illness 
In a remarkable display of unity and compassion, over 150 students at Glenville State University joined forces to combat the stigma surrounding mental illness. The powerful demonstration, a walk to raise awareness, unfolded across the university campus on October 9. This event marked a significant milestone in the ongoing fight to foster understanding and support for mental health. 
Glenville State University’s Debate Team Strikes “Gold” at Slippery Rock Tournament
Glenville State University's Pioneer Debate team competed in the National Educational Debate Association's (NEDA) Slippery Rock University tournament September 22-23. The tournament included 74 individual competitors from seven schools: Slippery Rock, Grove City, Dayton, Wayne State, Glenville State, Capital, and IMSA North.   Pioneer Debate’s two teams competed in the Novice Crossfire division. Rebekah Hypes (Sophomore Criminal Justice major) and teammate Sandra Crites (Sophomore Education major) finished 3rd overall. Noah Minor (Sophomore Business Management and Land Surveying double-major) and teammate Victoria Osborne (Sophomore Criminal Justice major) finished 5th overall. Rebekah Hypes topped all individual scores for a first-place divisional finish, and Noah Minor scored a fifth-place divisional finish.  
Glenville State University Homecoming Events Planned for October
Glenville State University will celebrate its annual Homecoming during the week of October 9, culminating on Saturday, October 14. A number of events are planned throughout the week for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends. Everyone is encouraged to make plans to come back to Glenville.

The Little Kanawha Reading Series is thrilled to announce a captivating literary event featuring poet Matthew Wimberley. The reading will take place on Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. in the Robert F. Kidd Library, situated on the picturesque campus of Glenville State University. 
Glenville State University Student Completes Internship with NASA WV Space Grant Consortium
Natalie Fout, a Secondary Math Education Major at Glenville State University, has successfully completed a transformative internship with the NASA West Virginia Space Grant Consortium (WVSGC) during the summer of 2023. Her role as Outreach Coordinator and Launch Director for the West Virginia Nationwide Eclipse Ballooning Project (WVNEBP) marked a significant contribution to this NASA-funded initiative, bringing together 70 atmospheric science and engineering teams from across the nation. 
Glenville State University receives Appalachian Collegiate Research Grant
Glenville State University will be one of 13 institutions to receive the Appalachian Collegiate Research Initiative Grant (ARCI) funded by the Appalachian Regional Commission. Dr. Mark Sarver, Associate Professor of Business and Workforce Learning Experiences Manager will lead the student research addressing the need for moderate income housing to attract professional talent to central West Virginia.    Since 2001, more than 22 colleges and universities - and over 2,800 students- from across Appalachia have participated in ARC's Appalachian Collegiate Research Initiative (ACRI). This applied research training program helps Appalachian students conduct research and develop projects supporting economic development in their communities.   
Payton Brown Honored with Prestigious Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Leadership Award
The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) is thrilled to announce that Payton Brown has been selected as the recipient of the coveted RMEF Leadership Award for their exceptional contributions to conservation, leadership, and dedication to the role of hunting in conservation efforts. The award includes a $5,000 scholarship, a year's membership to the RMEF, and a feature in the RMEF's esteemed magazine, "The Bugle."
