Mrs. Dora Heflin Remembered at GSC
Former Glenville State College First Lady Dora Morgan Heflin is being remembered on the GSC campus after passing away at her Morgantown, West Virginia home on Monday, May 30. She and her husband Dr. Harry B. Heflin served the college with distinction as first lady and president from 1947 to 1964. She was 103.
Hidden Promise Program Adds Eleven to List of Graduates
Eleven Glenville State College Hidden Promise Scholars (HPS) were recognized as graduates of the Hidden Promise program at a ceremony held on April 27. The students, Casey Burdette, Tyler Fortney, Samantha Fulks, Autumn Harkins, Levi Lynch, Quentin Murphy, Ben Neal, Joseph Overbaugh, Bobbie Payne, Ben Stingo, and Allison Taylor, all completed their GSC degrees at the conclusion of the spring semester.
Commencement Ceremony is May 7 at GSC
The 142nd Glenville State College Commencement Ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 7 beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the college's Waco Center.
GSC Employee Named to Humanities Council Program Committee
Glenville State College archivist and reference librarian Jason Gum has been elected to the program committee for the West Virginia Humanities Council. Gum and the other new members will serve a three-year term beginning June 1, 2016 through June 1, 2019.
GSC Schedules Off-Campus Natural Resource Exploration Day in Marlinton
Faculty in Glenville State College’s Land Resources Department and staff in the Office of Admissions invite prospective students to attend an event to learn more about Natural Resource Management programs offered at GSC. The Natural Resource Exploration Day will take place on Saturday, April 16 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at 6455 Huntersville Road in Marlinton, West Virginia.
GSC Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble on International Stage Again
The Glenville State College Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble, under the direction of GSC Assistant Professor of Music and Department of Fine Arts Chair Dr. Lloyd E. Bone Jr., was one of only 45 tuba and euphonium ensembles from around the world invited to perform at the 2016 International Tuba and Euphonium Conference (ITEC) at the University of Tennessee.
Campus Employee Receives History Hero Award
Jason Gum, a Glenville State College reference librarian and archivist, was recognized as a ‘WV History Hero’ during the West Virginia Division of Culture and History’s annual West Virginia History Day in Charleston.
GSC Financial Aid Workers Nationally Certified
Two employees of Glenville State College’s Office of Financial Aid, Amber Hamric and Michelle Hypes, recently were certified in several nationally-recognized programs.
