Murphy to hold Senior Art Show at GSC
Glenville State College senior studio art major Quentin Murphy from Grantsville, West Virginia is getting ready for his senior art show. The show, titled ‘Larger Than Life,’ will be on display until Friday, May 7th. His exhibit features original photography, drawings, and paintings. The exhibition will begin with an opening reception on Monday, April 4 from 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. The reception is free and open to the public and refreshments will be provided.
GSC Schedules Off-Campus Natural Resource Exploration Day in Marlinton
Faculty in Glenville State College’s Land Resources Department and staff in the Office of Admissions invite prospective students to attend an event to learn more about Natural Resource Management programs offered at GSC. The Natural Resource Exploration Day will take place on Saturday, April 16 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at 6455 Huntersville Road in Marlinton, West Virginia.
GSC Professor Collects Data at World Weightlifting Championships
This past November, Glenville State College Assistant Professor of Exercise Science, Dr. William ‘Guy’ Hornsby, was part of a three-person research team that collected kinematic data at the 2015 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships in Houston, Texas. The ten day event, televised by ESPN2, was the largest in history with around 300 lifters. It marked the first time in nearly 40 years the Championships, which determine how many spots each country qualifies for in the 2016 Summer Olympics, were hosted by the United States.
GSC Professor to Perform with House of Blues Band in Glenville
The N’Tranze Band, featuring Glenville State College Assistant Professor of Music Jason Barr, will give a free concert at the GSC Rusty Musket on Thursday, February 25 at 7:00 p.m. followed by an encore performance at the Pioneer Grille restaurant on Friday, February 26 at 8:00 p.m.
GSC Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble on International Stage Again
The Glenville State College Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble, under the direction of GSC Assistant Professor of Music and Department of Fine Arts Chair Dr. Lloyd E. Bone Jr., was one of only 45 tuba and euphonium ensembles from around the world invited to perform at the 2016 International Tuba and Euphonium Conference (ITEC) at the University of Tennessee.
Wemm Selected for Barr Professional Development Award
Glenville State College Professor of Communications Dennis Wemm has been selected to receive the 2016 Pete and Betsy Barr Professional Development Award. The award is rotated annually between GSC faculty and staff and must be used within eighteen months of being awarded. The award is designed primarily for the recipient to further their professional growth, although the awardee can use the money to further their particular area of interest in lieu of traditional professional development activities.
