GLENVILLE, WV - Glenville State University Students and Faculty Attend WV Society of American Foresters Meeting
Students and faculty from the Glenville State University Department of Land Resources attended the West Virginia Society of American Foresters (WVSAF) Winter Meeting on March 11 at the WVU Jackson’s Mill Conference Center in Weston, West Virginia. The event was also attended by several Glenville State University Forest Technology alumni currently working with the West Virginia Division of Forestry, highlighting the strong connection between the university’s forestry programs and the state’s natural resource workforce.
The meeting brought together foresters, researchers, faculty, students, and natural resource practitioners from across West Virginia to discuss current issues, research, and emerging technologies in forestry. The event served as a venue for professionals and students to exchange knowledge and learn about topics related to forestry in West Virginia, including forest management practices, forest inventory methods, and advances in forest monitoring and data collection.
Throughout the day, participants attended presentations covering a variety of forestry topics. Sessions included discussions on the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in forestry, innovative approaches to forest inventory and data collection, and the application of drone and LiDAR technologies for forest assessment and monitoring. Additional presentations highlighted research related to forest ecosystems, climate considerations, and long-term forest management practices.
